TAHLEQUAH – With the postseason just underway, Northeastern State women's tennis head coach
Jon Parker announced the addition of Melissa Vera to a National Letter of Intent on Monday.

Vera, a native of Veracruz, Mexico was ranked as high as No. 8 in the nation as a junior player. In 2014, she was the champion of the South Region in Mexico in singles and doubles; Vera also qualified and reached the semifinals at the Masters National Championship.

The daughter of Socklin and Julio Vera plans to major in Chemistry at Northeastern State.

Vera joins Lara Kohler (Germany) to the RiverHawks' 2018 signing class as incoming freshman.
