Northeastern State University Athletics

The NSU women's soccer team jumped from 10th to eighth on the final day of the regular season to qualify for the 2014 MIAA Championship tournament. A big reason why came from the right boot of McKenzie Musella. She scored a golden goal penalty kick in the 108th minute on Sunday to give Northeastern State a 2-1 victory over Southwest Baptist. The goal allowed the RiverHawks to leapfrog Northwest Missouri State (who lost to Lindenwood) and Nebraska-Kearney (who lost to Emporia State).
