NSU Drops 2-1 Decision to SBU

Gleason scores lone marker for RiverHawks

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team lost a narrow 2-1 match to Southwest Baptist Thursday night at SBU Soccer Field.
 
The RiverHawks (9-3-0, 5-3-0 MIAA) saw their recent three-game win streak snapped despite outshooting the Bearcats (6-5-2, 3-2-2 MIAA) 16-15.
 
NSU fell behind in the sixth minute when Karla Jamison scored off a pass from Ashley Creason.
 
Northeastern State took the deficit into the half, but freshman defender Rachel Gleason equalized in the 53rd minute with help from sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Cudjoe.
 
Creason would find the game-winning goal for SBU in the 72nd minute unassisted.
 
Junior goalkeeper Maggie Kloza played the full 90, allowed two goals and stopped four shots.
 
Megan Link saved seven shots and allowed one goal to pick up the win.
