EDMOND, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with No. 18 Central Oklahoma Friday night at Tom Thompson Field.
The RiverHawks (9-4-1, 5-4-1 MIAA) were outshot 19-8, but the team was able to get on the board first and snap a 13-match losing skid to the nationally-ranked Bronchos (12-1-3, 7-0-3 MIAA).
NSU took the early advantage when freshman forward
Lindsey Latta scored her fourth goal of the season in the 17th minute off an assist from junior forward
Jennifer Clark.
Central Oklahoma equalized in the 50th minute when Alyssa Anderson found the back of the net, and the game ended in a draw when neither side could find the game-winning marker in the final 60 minutes of play.
Junior goalkeeper
Maggie Kloza (5-3-1) played the full 110 minutes in net, and she allowed one goal and converted four saves. Her counterpart, Meagan Burke, made two saves and allowed the one NSU goal.
Northeastern State will return to action on its Senior Day. NSU will play host to Ouachita Baptist at 4 p.m. Oct. 23.
