Women’s Soccer to Host Bearcats in MIAA Quarterfinals

Tickets are $5 for all ages (excluding 6 and under), first 400 NSU students to get in for free

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team will play host to Northwest Missouri State University in the quarterfinals of the 2012 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at DeLoache Field.
 
This will be a rematch from a Sept. 28 meeting in Maryville, Mo., where the RiverHawks (12-4-1, 7-4-1 MIAA) suffered their worst loss of the season (3-0) despite outshooting the home side 21-6.
 
Tickets are $5 for all ages (exception: 6 and under are admitted free) and can be purchased at the entrance to DeLoache Field. The first 400 NSU students will be admitted free of charge.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Northwest Missouri State enters the first round of the conference championship with an 8-6-3 overall record and a 6-4-2 mark in MIAA play. The Bearcats are sputtering into the playoffs, having dropped three of their last four contests. The team has not scored more than one goal in any of its last eight contests. The last time NWMSU scored more than one goal in a match was against the RiverHawks on Sept. 28 (3-0). Overall this season, Northwest Missouri State is outscoring opponents 30-24, and the team is led in scoring by Victoria Von Mende (7g-2a=16p) and Amanda Bundrant (4g-3a=11p). The leader in goal is Kelsey Adams (6-5-2, 1.35 GAA, .815 S%).
 
LAST TIME OUT
Northeastern State traveled to Kansas and picked up road victories over Emporia State and Washburn. The RiverHawks began the weekend sweep with a decisive 4-1 result over the Hornets. Junior forward Jennifer Clark, sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Cudjoe (2) and freshman forward Lindsey Latta all scored for NSU. The green and white conceded a goal in the eighth minute against the Lady Blues, but junior midfielder Kaili Endres and junior forward Emily Voges scored to propel the RiverHawks to their third-straight win.
 
2012 MIAA CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE
The 2012 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship will be contested from Oct. 30-Nov. 4. Eight teams qualified for the championship, and the first round will be hosted by the top four seeds. A complete bracket can be found on page 5. Northeastern State earned the No. 4 seed and will play host to Northwest Missouri State in the opening round at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at DeLoache Field. No. 1 Central Missouri will face No. 8 Southwest Baptist, No. 3 Truman State will meet No. 6 Fort Hays State, and No. 2 Central Oklahoma will play host to No. 7 Missouri Southern State. The top remaining seed after the quarterfinals will host both the semifinals and championship.
