Men’s Soccer Falls 1-0 at No. 20 Incarnate Word

Early goal dooms Northeastern State, RiverHawks drop to 7-3 on the season

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Northeastern State men's soccer team dropped a narrow 1-0 decision Friday night to No. 20 Incarnate Word at Benson Stadium.
 
The RiverHawks (7-3-0) were outshot 10-6, and the Cardinals (8-2) picked up their lone goal in the 10th minute to hold court at home and win their eighth-straight match.
 
Josh Ferona scored off a corner kick from Wylie Rea, and NSU was only able to attempt one shot on goal in the entire contest.
 
Senior midfielder Bo White led the road side with three shots and sophomore forward Juan Peralta attempted the lone strike on goal.
 
Senior goalkeeper Jordan Ladbrooke fell to 6-3 on the season despite making five saves, and Brett Becker earned the win in net for UIW.

Despite the loss, the RiverHawks only allowed one goal to the sixth-best offense in the nation. The Cardinals entered the match averaging 3.3 goals per game. Vincent Bailey is currently second in the NCAA in goals per game, and he was held to only two shots and no goals.
 
Northeastern State will stay in Texas for a 1 p.m. meeting Oct. 7 with No. 24 Midwestern State.
