TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- The women's soccer team will face off against two MIAA opponents on the road this weekend. NSU is 6-1-0 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Northeastern State to Play Two MIAA Opponents; Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western State
The RiverHawks will battle the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State at 4p.m. Friday, September 28 in Maryville, Mo. at Bearcat Pitch. NSU will then travel to Missouri Western State and play the Griffons at Spratt Memorial Stadium at 12 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo.
Scouting the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats
NWMSU is a member of the MIAA and has a record of 4-2-1 and 2-1-0 in the conference. The Bearcats average 2.86 goals per game. Junior forward Victoria Von Mende leads Northwest Missouri in scoring with six goals on the season. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Walde and freshman midfielder Chelsea Fournier follow with three goals each. Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Adams has 44 saves on the year, has had one shutout against Missouri Western (1-0) and is 3-2-0 on the season. The Bearcats have defeated Lindenwood (3-2) and Missouri Western (1-0) and have one loss to Truman State 0-3 in MIAA play.
Scouting the Missouri Western State Griffons
MWSU is a member of the MIAA and has a record of 3-4-0 and 1-2-0 in the conference. The Griffons average one goal per game and 10.1 shots per game. Sophomore midfielder Katie Kempf leads Missouri Western in scoring with five goals on the season. Sophomore forward K.C. Ramsell leads MWSU in assists with three this year. Senior goalkeeper Kelly Voigts has recorded 44 saves and two shutouts against East Central (2-0) and Graceland U. (2-0). Voigts has a record of 3-4-0. The Griffons has suffered two losses in MIAA play to Truman State 0-2 and Northwest Missouri State (0-1); they defeated Lindenwood 2-1.
