Six score in double figures, NSU drops second-highest total since 2000-01

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 17-ranked Northeastern State men's basketball team opened the 2013-14 campaign with a decisive 102-65 triumph over Ecclesia College Saturday night inside the NSU Event Center.
 
The RiverHawks (1-0) had six players score in double figures as they posted their most points in a game since Jan. 12, 2009, and the second-highest total single-game mark since 2000-01.
 
Senior guard Bryton Hobbs went 5-for-7 from the field and 8-for-8 from the free-throw line to lead all scorers at 20. Junior guard Michael Harmon added 16 off the bench, while fellow junior guard Keon Littleton contributed 15. Junior forwards Landon DeMasters and Curtis Evans both had 13 and senior forward Marcus Sheppard scored 10.
 
Rolands Narkis scored 13 for Ecclesia (0-1), while Dominic Taylor and Kristofer Riggs both had 10.
 
NSU shot 65 percent (33-for-51) for the game, which included a blistering 76 percent (19-for-25) in the first half. The Royals shot 38 percent (21-for-56) from the game.
 
Northeastern State outrebounded EC 39-25 and forced 19 turnovers to just 17.
 
Northeastern State will host No. 25 Harding in the Event Center Grand Opening at 8 p.m. Nov. 16.
