EDMOND, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team lost to University of Central Oklahoma 1-0 in overtime Friday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

The RiverHawks (7-10, 4-9 MIAA) and the Bronchos (11-4-2, 8-3-2 MIAA) both had chances throughout the match, but neither team could put the ball in the net during the 90 minutes of regulation play. Sophomore forward Anastasia Robinson had the best chance for NSU in regulation when she chipped a ball in from the left flank which hit the crossbar.

Central Oklahoma's Lexi Carroll scored the game winner in the 92nd minute. A ball was deflected to her at the top of the box and she was able to slot it home past sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff in the far right corner.

NSU was outshot by UCO 17-5 and both teams had three corner kicks.

Jordan Woodruff (7-10) played all 92 minutes. She made seven saves, while allowing the lone goal.

Northeastern State will next host Southwest Baptist Nov. 2 at DeLoache Field. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. and will be the last match of the regular season. The RiverHawks will need to defeat the Bearcats and receive some help in order to qualify for the next week's eight-team MIAA Championship tournament.

NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH CHASE WOOTEN
Opening statement…
"I thought we battled hard. We played pretty good football for the whole 90-plus minutes. We created chances; I'm just disappointed we couldn't get a result out of it. I thought in the second half we had the better of the play. Obviously, UCO is a really good team and we respect what they bring every single game, but I thought we came at them and did well. We banked well defensively. We connected well when it was time. We did better and better about finding space. I thought we schemed well, we just didn't get a result in overtime. I don't know if we ran out of gas a little bit or had a lack of focus in the first minute or so, but a flash is all it takes and it's gone."

On the saves by Jordan Woodruff to keep the match tied…
"Jordan [Woodruff] has played with some injuries and we respect her on lots of levels. Today we thought we'd need a few good saves from her and she gave us more than a few. She wasn't getting shelled and she kept the game in front of her. We're proud of our kids and I think Jordan was a reflection at a micro-level of how everybody played. Everyone stepped up and had a really good game. When you can't score goals you never make the other team chase the game and that's the problem we're dealing with right now."
