UCO AthleticsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's and women's basketball teams are set to host the 2014 Stuteville Automotive Group MIAA GAC Basketball Challenge Nov. 14-15 at the NSU Event Center. The University of Central Oklahoma, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State will make the trip to Tahlequah to open the 2014-15 season.
The inaugural tournament will consist of eight games over two days. Host Northeastern State and UCO of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State of the Great American Conference in men's and women's doubleheaders both days.
The NSU women will play Northwestern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and then they will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
WHO ARE THE RIVERHAWKS?Northeastern State University is located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The RiverHawks posted an 11-17 record last season, which was the worst record for NSU since 1996-97. They were picked to finish eighth in the preseason MIAA poll. NSU returns its top two scorers in senior guards
Fontana Tate and
Chelsey Beathard. Tate put up 11.2 points per game last season, while Beathard averaged 9.0 ppg. The RiverHawks are led by
Randy Gipson who has a 289-147 record in 16 seasons at Northeastern State.

WHO ARE THE BRONCHOS?The University of Central Oklahoma is located in Edmond, Oklahoma, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Bronchos finished the 2013-14 with a 12-16 record. They were picked to finish 10th in the preseason MIAA poll. They return seven players including three starters. Junior Julia Mason averaged 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds a year ago while fellow junior Haley Weathers put up 8.5 points and led the squad with 6.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Olivia Mason netted 6.4 ppg. The Bronchos are coached by Guy Hardaker who has a 147-88 record entering his ninth season at UCO. Â

WHO ARE THE SAVAGE STORM?Southeastern Oklahoma State University is located in Durant, Oklahoma, and the team competes in the Great American Conference. The Savage Storm posted a 13-14 record last year. They were picked to finish fourth in the preseason GAC poll. SEOSU returns five of its top six scorers from 2013-14. Emily Williams returns as the leading scorer after netting 15.9 points per game last season. She was also the leading rebounder a year ago, posting 7.4 rebounds a game. Southeastern Oklahoma State University is coached by 10th year head coach Darin Grover, and he has a 136-114 record.

WHO ARE THE RANGERS?Northwestern Oklahoma State University is located in Alva, Oklahoma, and the team competes in the Great American Conference. They finished the 2013-14 season with a 7-19 record. The Rangers were picked 10th in the preseason GAC poll. The Rangers return three of their top five scorers from a year ago. Sophomore Kamera Bozeman returns after averaging 10.8 ppg and 4.5 rebounds a game last year while sophomore Jonae Isaac posted 9.4 points per game. The Rangers are coached by Eric Bozeman who is in his third season. He owns a 13-37 mark.
