FAYETTE, Iowa – The No. 15-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team lost 3-1 to Upper Iowa Friday afternoon at Pattison Field.

The RiverHawks (9-5, 3-2 MIAA) saw their five-match win streak snapped, while the Peacocks improved to 10-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference. NSU's last loss was also at the hands of UIU, which was a 1-0 setback Sept. 26 in Tahlequah.

Northeastern State got on the board first when redshirt freshman midfielder
Joseph Garcia converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute, but Upper Iowa scored three goals in a 17-minute span to take the lead for good.

Dominic Boland equalized for the home side in the 63rd minute, and Leandro Pena netted the match winner in the 75th minute. Blair Lyons added an insurance marker in the 80th minute for the Peacocks.

NSU was able to outshoot UIU 13-11 and lead 5-1 in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper
Eric Shephard (9-5) finished the match with three saves, while Upper Iowa goalkeeper Connor Rortvedt (8-2-1) had four saves.

Northeastern State will remain on the road for a noon match Oct. 25 against Lindenwood.
