NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH CHASE WOOTENOpening statement…"The team played really hard. I'm proud of their effort. We had a scheme that we wanted to stick to, and I thought we played inside that very well. We did some good things in the game inside of the game. We were able to create scoring chances off crosses, which is what we were trying to do. (Central Missouri) made a good goal-line clearance in the second half off (Rachel) Gleason's chance. In the big picture of it all, we wanted to have some good counterattacks and we were able to do that. Obviously (Central Missouri is) a good side, and they do a really good job of keeping the ball. They like to push their numbers forward, and we were able to sponge that for the most part. We spared Jordan (Woodruff) having to make some big-time saves, which was good. We created enough chances to score that we could have capitalized on. It was frustrating that we weren't able to get anything to fall."
Â
On being able to take a top-10 team to overtime…"I am proud with that part of it. We rocked the crossbar in the first 10 minutes with (
Anastasia Robinson's) shot. We had two really great looks on goal that (Central Missouri was) beat on. We played through some injuries and our team showed a lot of heart and a lot of grit. We played OK soccer, which a week and a half ago we were really struggling in that area. I'm just really proud of their effort and their season all the way from September and October to now."
