TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team earned a 5-0 victory over Southern Nazarene in Thursday night's season-opening scrimmage at DeLoache Field.

Five different RiverHawks found the back of the net as the green and white kicked off the 2015 campaign with a triumphant performance.

NSU led 1-0 at the half on the strength of a 40th-minute goal from true freshman midfielder
Alanah Martin.

The RiverHawks took total control of the contest early in the second half when they scored three goals in a three-minute span. Sophomore midfielder
Julia Mathis was up first with a marker at 60', followed by a third goal from senior midfielder
McKenzie Musella in the 62nd minute. Junior forward McKenna added a fourth goal 45 seconds later and sophomore forward
Madison Dobbs closed the scoring with a goal in the 77th minute.

Meg Smith combined for the clean sheet. Both played a half and finished with a total of five saves.

Northeastern State outshot SNU 24-9 and led 6-0 in corner kicks.

The RiverHawks will begin the regular season at home with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff Sept. 4 against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
