Northeastern State heads to Colorado

Northeastern State prep for road matches against CSU-Pueblo, Metro State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 24-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team will be traveling to Colorado this weekend for a pair of road matches. The RiverHawks will first take on the No. 12 ranked Colorado State University - Pueblo ThunderWolves at 6:30 p.m. (CST) on Sept. 11. The team will then travel to Denver to face the Metro State Roadrunners at 3:30 p.m. (CST) on Sept. 13.
 
Northeastern State opened the season by winning two home matches last weekend. The RiverHawks defeated Truman State 3-0 and came from behind to defeat Missouri S&T 2-1. Sophomore midfielder Trevor Reed has been putting on a show on offense so far this season. The dynamic RiverHawk has scored four goals through two matches and was named the NSCAA National Player of the Week for his performance. He also collected MIAA Athlete of the Week honors. Senior goalkeeper Eric Shephard has played all 180 minutes so far this year and has only allowed one goal while making 10 saves. So far NSU is leading its opponents in shots 35-20.
 
Scouting the ThunderWolves?
Colorado State University – Pueblo is located in Pueblo, Colorado. The team is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CSUP is currently ranked 12th in the nation after starting the season 2-0. Last weekend the ThunderWolves picked up road wins against Rogers State (2-1) and Newman (2-0). All four of CSU – Pueblo's goals have come from different goal scorers so far this season and goalkeeper Sam Haseltine has racked up 11 saves while only allowing one goal.
 
Scouting the Roadrunners?
The Metropolitan State University of Denver is located in Denver, Colorado. The team also competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners are 1-1 this season after dropping a match to Dixie State (5-2) and picking up a victory over Montana State-Billings (4-1). They are led by Dustin Berg, who was just named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and adding an assist through his first two matches.
