NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH ROB ROBINSONOn the first two Pitt State touchdowns…"Those were just two missed assignments by a young team in their first game. When you get a team of Pittsburg State's caliber, you make one wrong assignment and they're going to take advantage of it. That's what happened. I thought our guys did a great job battling back after that. They started trusting their keys more, but that's what you worry about when you're playing Pitt. They're so fundamentally sound that they are going to make you pay when you make even one wrong move."
Â
On the offense settling down…"We got our jitters out. We started four brand new offensive linemen and it took them a little bit to get adjusted. That was a great defensive front (that Pittsburg State had). But we showed that we're better. We were moving the ball how we wanted to and we shot ourselves in the foot."
Â
On the positives…"The biggest positive for me is I've never had a group of players play this hard. They were still battling on defense even when we got down by 17 late. If you can get the players to do the little things like that, then you'll win some ballgames. If they'll play like that and put that kind of effort in we'll win some ballgames."
Â
On Kevin Pantastico…"Kevin's got to slow the game down. He's trying to make the big play on everything. He just needs to slow it down and take what the defense gives him. The defense is always going to give you something, and sometimes it's best to just take the two- or three-yard gain and keep on rolling. He did a lot of good things tonight, he just has to keep working on the little things."
