RiverHawks open season at home

Northeastern State will play host to Northwestern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Christian to begin 2015

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team is set to host two home matches this weekend. The team takes on Northwestern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 and will then play Oklahoma Christian at 3 p.m. on Sept. 6.

The RiverHawks are coming off a 2014 season in which they finished 8-11-0 overall and 5-9-0 in conference play. The team returns sophomore Melissa Giles, who led all Northeastern State scorers last year with 13 points (6g-1a) and was an All-MIAA performer. The RiverHawks will also be looking for another big year out of junior forward Anastasia Robinson after she led the team with four assists during her sophomore campaign. Senior midfielder McKenzie Musella had 11 points (4g-3a) last season. Junior goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff finished last season with a 1.38 goals against average and was fourth in MIAA with 95 saves. Northeastern State lost to Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1 on the road last year in the season opener.

Northwestern Oklahoma State is located in Alva, Oklahoma. The team competes in the Great American Conference. In 2014 the Rangers were 8-7-3 overall and 2-6-2 in conference play. They return junior forward Alyssa Williams, who was second on the team in goals scored last year with five. The team also returns junior goalkeeper Briana Legaspi, who led the GAC with both 108 saves and a save percentage of .831 during her sophomore season.

Who are the Eagles?
Oklahoma Christian University is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team competes in the Heartland Conference. The Eagles finished last season 2-14-2 and 1-6-1 in conference play. They return sophomore Madeline Roseke, who led the Eagles in shots on goal last year with 20. Roseke was also the second leading scorer with five points (2g-1a).
