Caudill registers double-double in loss

Northeastern State falls to Central Missouri 70-61 Thursday night

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's basketball team lost to Central Missouri 70-61 Thursday evening inside the NSU Event Center.
 
The RiverHawks fell to 4-12 on the year and 3-9 in the MIAA, while the Mules improved to 12-5 overall and 6-5 in the league.
 
Senior forward Dakota Caudill tied his career high with 11 rebounds and registered his second career double-double after pouring in 17 points. Junior forward Javon Wallace tallied a season-high 13 points and nine rebounds, while also adding a pair of blocks in 24 minutes off the bench. Sophomore guard Montre' Williams contributed 10 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals.
 
NSU shot 36.8 percent (21-for-57) from the field, 26.9 percent (7-for-26) from behind the 3-point arc and 52.2 percent (12-for-23) at the free-throw line. UCM shot 43.2 percent (19-for-44) overall, 26.3 percent (5-for-19) from deep and 77.1 percent (27-for-35) at the charity stripe.
 
Tereke Eckwood led all scorers with 21 points, while Spencer Reaves added 11 for the visitors. Jakob Lowrance and D'Marnier Cunningham each scored 10 points.
 
The RiverHawks dominated in rebounding (49-28) and also led in assists (17-11), blocks (3-1), second-chance points (9-6) and bench points (35-18). The Mules had fewer turnovers (9-19) and also led in points off turnovers (19-5) and fast-break points (6-4).
 
Northeastern Sate will have another chance to pick up a league win at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 23 when Southwest Baptist comes to town.
