EDMOND – Northeastern State's five match road trip came to an end on Friday with a 1-0 overtime loss at rivals Central Oklahoma.
The RiverHawks attacked the net early with nine shots made in the first 45 minutes. UCO's goalkeeper made five saves to hold onto the scoreless contest.  In the second half, it was the Bronchos on the attack with eight shots, and
Jordan Woodruff having four saves to push the match to overtime.
In the extra period, NSU's
Julia Mathis put up a shot just 12 seconds with would be saved by UCO. However, 90 second later the Bronchos ended the match with a goal to send the RiverHawks to 12-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the MIAA.
After playing their first 14 matches without needing to go to overtime, NSU has been pushed to play extra time in the last three contests.
Northeastern State had a 14-13 edge on shots with
Shelby Brewster having four, and
Alexis Carson with three.
The win for the Bronchos was a payback on the RiverHawks after NSU won 2-1 at DeLoache Field in September; UCO will go to 11-5-1 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA. Â
NSU has one remaining regular season contest at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. were they will host Southwest Baptist for Senior Day.
