Karon Waller and
Montre' Williams both had 11 points to lead Northeastern State but they would fall on the road 66-52 to Rogers State on Wednesday night in Claremore.
Fouls were the story of the night with 50 attempts at the free-throw line combined by both teams on 48 total fouls called by the officials.
Neither team shot the ball well with RSU having the slight edge with 37-percent shooting (20-54), the RiverHawks went 35.4-percent (17-48) on their side of the floor.
The RiverHawks led for nearly half of the first 20 minutes of the game and led the five points with five-minutes left until the intermission. Rogers State closed the half a 10-3 run on the RiverHawks to leave for the locker room with a 26-19 lead.
Northeastern State trailed the rest of the game and they closed in within six points (47-41) following a free throw by Waller with six minutes to go. However, the Hillcats extended their lead to double-figures and took their largest margin of 17-points with just over a minute left in the contest.
Braxton Williams led the RiverHawks with ten rebounds but as a team they would trail RSU 40-to-32 on the glass.
The RiverHawks committed 19 turnovers in the game which was four more than Rogers State.
The Hillcats had three in double-figures with Baron Smith Jr. having 20 points and Johnathon Buckley had a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
Wednesday's loss sends the RiverHawks to 0-3 this season and Rogers State will go to 2-1.
Northeastern State will travel to Stephen F. Austin on Friday at 7 p.m. in an exhibition.
