TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State's seniors shined one final time at DeLoache Field as they closed out the 2016 season with a 3-1 win on Saturday night over Southwest Baptist.
 
Austin Dinkel was a goal short of the hat trick with his first points of the season.  The NSU fourth year student-athlete had a career game on his final night in a RiverHawks uniform and it was his first goals since his redshirt-freshman season.   
 
Joseph Garcia had three assists for the RiverHawks and 
Robbie Clark chipped in a pair off of both of Dinkel's goals that were on corner kicks.
 
Landon Merrill put NSU on the board first at the 11-minute mark with his first career goal on his final match; the NSU defender scored his goal on a header.
 
NSU dominated play in the first half with nine shots and only allowing one SBU shot. 
 
Jackson Biles played 89 minutes with four saves in his final match to bring his career total up to 120 in four years. 
 
Northeastern State had 15 shots overall on Saturday with Southwest Baptist having six; the RiverHawks had a 3-to-1 edge on corner kicks. 
 
The loss for Southwest Baptist will send them to 0-16-2 overall and 0-8 in the MIAA.
 
Northeastern State concludes their year with a 7-9-1 record and a 3-5 record in league play.
