Women's hoops host Bacone

The headline:
Tuesday's contest will be the first of two games this week at the NSU Event Center; the RiverHawks will face Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.  The contest against Bacone does count on NSU's record and stats but it is an exhibition contest for the Warriors.  Rylie Torrey has climbed up to second in the MIAA in scoring with 19.1 points per game.  On Saturday, she knocked down a career high 32 points which was third most for a MIAA player this season, and brought her scoring average to 29th most in the nation.

The series: This will be the second year in a row that the RiverHawks and Warriors have faced each other. The two teams met at the NSU Event Center in Northeastern State's third game of the season with the RiverHawks picking up a 68-53 win.

Last time out for NSU: Northeastern State's furious late rally came up short 77-68 on Saturday at Southwest Baptist in MIAA play.  The RiverHawks used an 11-2 run in the final three minutes to get within two possessions of the Bearcats 73-68 with 41 seconds left.  Being forced the foul the extend the game, NSU could not cut further into the SBU lead to halt the late RiverHawks rally.  Rylie Torrey knocked down five three pointers and went 11-for-19 from the field for NSU's first 30-point performance since Taylor Lewis scored 30 on Feb. 27, 2012 against Arkansas-Fort Smith. Cailyn Long came out strong in the second half with ten of her 18 points and had a team high seven rebounds off the NSU bench.

Last time out for Bacone: The Warriors played on Saturday at Crowley's Ridge and won 86-67.  Bacone outscored the Pioneers 44-to-31 in the first half with Cierra Miles picking up a game high 21 points.  Ashley Barry-Wallace had a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.  Crowley's Ridge had a slight shooting edge in the contest despite the loss by going 46-percent from the field, while the Warriors went 43.4 on their side of the floor.

Scouting Bacone: Bacone has three players averaging over ten points with Cierra Miles leading her squad with 13.6 points per game.  The Warriors force nearly 12 steals a game and they are seventh in the NAIA in turnover margin.   From long range, BC is shooting 25-percent which is second to last in the Sooner Athletic Conference.  Bacone has one NCAA contest this season which was at Rogers State with the Hillcats winning in Claremore 69-36.
