The headline: Northeastern State junior
Montre' Williams is seventh in the MIAA in average scoring with 18.3 points per game through their first six games this season. Â Williams has hit double-figure scoring in the last eight contests dating back last season. Â From the three-point arc he has sank 23 treys which is third most in the MIAA with one less game played than the leaders and Williams is 52.3-percent from downtown. Â
The series: This will be the 138th meeting between the Bronchos and RiverHawks that dates back to the 1924-25 season. Â In the overall series, UCO holds an 88-49 lead on Northeastern State and since both programs moved to the MIAA in 2012-13, NSU trails the series 3-5. Â Northeastern State took the home half of the series last season 92-73 in the NSU Event Center with the RiverHawks nearly knocking off UCO on the road in the last two trips by a loss margin of five points.Â
Last time out for NSU: Montre' Williams scored 21 points to carry Northeastern State to a 55-41 win on Wednesday night to open MIAA play at the NSU Event Center. Â The 41 points NSU held Missouri Western State to was a six-year low for the RiverHawks program and the fewest points by a MIAA school since Lindenwood was held by that same number on Jan. 13, 2016 at Central Missouri. Â
Karon Waller was NSU's second leading scorer with 15 points and he had seven rebounds,
Cameron Martin also hit double-figures with 11 points and he had three assists. Â The last time NSU held a team to fewer allowed points was on Jan. 20, 2010 in Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse against Southeastern Oklahoma (45-40 win).
Last time out for UCO: Central Oklahoma opened their MIAA slate by hosting #3 Northwest Missouri State in Edmond on Wednesday night. Â The Bronchos were led by sophomore guard Josh Holliday who scored 22 points for UCO but they would fall 73-66. Â At the half, UCO led 32-29 on NWMSU but 2-for-16 shooting at the arc and the Bearcats went 56.3-percent on the floor split the difference at the end of the night.
Scouting UCO: The Bronchos have lost their last two contests heading into their Saturday afternoon game with Northeastern State.  UCO distributes their offense evenly with four players averaging over 11 points.  Corbin Byford leads UCO with 5.8 boards and over a block a game.  In the MIAA preseason poll, UCO was picked seventh in the league with five returners from last season's squad.  UCO head coach, Tom Hankins is in his second season, and played for Northeastern State during his junior and senior years. Â
