RiverHawks face Patriots in non-conference weekday contest

The headline:
At halftime of Tuesday's game with Dallas Baptist will be NSU's second annual toy toss for the Toys for Tots of Cherokee County.  NSU's goal is to have everyone attending on Dec. 6 to have a stuffed toy thrown onto the court at the conclusion of the first half.  Additionally, Santa making an appearance during the game for children in attendance.  This is the RiverHawks only solo contest of the season with the rest of the year booked as doubleheaders.

The series: This will be the first meeting for the RiverHawks and Patriots.  The two schools will meet again on Monday, Dec. 19 in Dallas for NSU's final game in 2016.
 
Last time out for NSU:
Northeastern State could not recover from a sluggish first half and was not able slow down the Bronchos' offense to fall 91-58 on Saturday at Central Oklahoma.  Turnovers hurt the RiverHawks Saturday afternoon as well with the team committing 20 and the Bronchos picking up 26 points off of.  Cameron Martin led the RiverHawks with 15 points and Montre' Williams having 12 points despite sitting out for most of the second half after putting up nine in the opening 20 minutes. 

Last time out for DBU: Dallas Baptist beat Baptist Bible College on Friday in a lopsided 107-31 contest. Carter Brown and Conner Lidiak led the Patriots in scoring with 22 points apiece to fuel the high-scoring offense.  The Patriots didn't start a player from their previous five contests this season and shot 63.4-percent from the field while forcing 29 turnovers.  Julian Miranda led DBU with 13 assists, breaking the program record for single-game assists (11).

Scouting DBU: Heading into Tuesday's contest with the RiverHawks, the Patriots are 3-3 for the year, and were picked to finish in third place in the Heartland Conference.  Dallas Baptist was last year's Heartland Conference tournament champions to earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament.  This will be DBU's second road contest of the season with the Patriots falling in Lawton, Okla. to Cameron 76-70 on Nov. 26.  The Patriots use an up-tempo offense to average 86.3 points per game with five players averaging over five points a game.  Myles Johnson and Boy Van Vliet both average over 14 points per outing.
