The headline: Northeastern State will be looking to snap a four game skid at Southwest Baptist this Saturday in Bolivar. Â The RiverHawks have been led by sophomore
Rylie Torrey who has 17.3 points per game this season and has hit double-figures in her first seven games in a NSU uniform. Â
Mary Jane Buschmann is leading NSU in rebounds with just over seven a game and she is nearly picking up 11 points in each contest.Â
The series: Since 20-6, the RiverHawks lead the series 4-3 over the Bearcats and in MIAA play NSU leads 3-1. Â In the last five meetings between the two programs, Northeastern State has won four out of the last five. Â Additionally, NSU has won in their last three appearances in Bolivar.Â
Last time out for NSU: A 29 point third quarter gave Central Oklahoma enough of a push to beat the RiverHawks 72-53 on Saturday afternoon at the Hamilton Field House. Â
Mary Jane Buschmann led the RiverHawks with 19 points in her best offensive day since she put up 20 on Jan. 4, 2016 at Northwest Missouri State. Â
Rylie Torrey had 12 points as NSU's second leading scorer in the contest.
Miranda Griffin led NSU with seven rebounds but the RiverHawks would trail on the glass 42-to-27 with the Bronchos grabbing 13 offensive boards. Â In second chance points, UCO had 12 with the RiverHawks having three points on five offensive rebounds.
Last time out for SBU: Southwest Baptist led through the first quarter but lost 73-61 to Central Oklahoma on Thursday to open MIAA play. Â The Bearcats were outscored 40-22 in the middle two periods with four players hitting double-figures. Â Aliyah Isaac led SBU with 15 points but had seven turnovers. Â Rebounds were even for both squads but the Bearcats would go 2-for-14 from the arc in the loss.Â
Scouting SBU: Megan Rosenbohm is ninth in the MIAA in scoring with 16.5 points per game and averages a block per outing for the Bearcats. Â Southwest Baptist is second in the MIAA in field goal percentage (.474) and is fourth in field goal percentage defense (.361). Â Prior to their loss on Thursday to Central Oklahoma, the Bearcats were riding a four game winning streak with their contest against NSU as their sixth in a row at home and ninth this year in Bolivar. Â On Dec. 1, Southwest Baptist beat last year's National Champions, Lubbock Christian 67-54.
Â
