RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Northeastern State baseball team lost to Arkansas Tech 4-1 Tuesday night at Tech Field.

The RiverHawks (7-6) held the Wonder Boys (7-10) off the scoreboard for the first seven innings, but the home team used a pair of NSU errors to score four unearned runs in the eighth to secure the victory.

Junior
Bryce Davenport had two of NSU's four hits, and the other two came off the bats of senior
Gabriel Wurth and redshirt freshman
Zane Takhar. Wurth tallied the lone RBI, while Takhar scored the lone run.

In just his second appearance and first start for NSU, junior
Daniel Faulk was solid in 5.0 innings of work. He gave up just two hits and no runs, while striking out three and walking a pair of Wonder Boys. Junior
Bobby Sehgal (0-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up four unearned runs on four hits in 3.0 frames.

Kaleb Warden and Josh Watkins led ATU with two hits each. Watkins drove in a pair of runs.

Geoffrey Birkemeier (1-0) tossed 4.0 innings of relief to pick up the victory. He struck out eight RiverHawks and allowed just one unearned run on two hits. Jesse Harbin threw the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.

The RiverHawks will now prepare for their second MIAA series of the season and their first at home. They will welcome Washburn to Rousey Field March 4-6 for three games at 2 p.m., 2 p.m. and noon, respectively.
