ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Northeastern State baseball team started its weekend series with an 11-4 loss to Lindenwood Thursday night at Lou Brock Complex.

The RiverHawks (23-20, 17-16 MIAA) fell to 8-15 on the road, while the Lions (21-24, 15-19 MIAA) improved to 14-10 at home.

NSU finished with 11 hits, led by three each from junior
Dakota Woods and redshirt freshman
Zane Takhar. Seniors
Eric Kirkpatrick and
Charles Sims also had a pair of hits.

LWU tallied 14 hits. Wes Degener went 3-for-4 and Nathan Prindle, Kyle Teter, Vince Saladino and Paul Sherwood all finished with two hits. Prindle drove in three runs and Ryan Sosnowski, Saladino and Jackson Fuller all tallied two RBI. Degener, Drew Quinones and Fuller all scored twice.

Junior
Thomas Murray (1-5) took the hill for NSU first and lasted just 2.0 innings after conceding nine runs on eight hits. Junior
Zack Hammock allowed two runs on three hits in two innings of relief. True freshman
Tristan Gooden threw the final 4.0 frames and did not allow a run.

Brendan Feldmann (3-2) earned the win after allowing four runs on 10 hits in six innings. He struck out eight and walked just two. Devin Breihan and Lucas Tibbs did not give up a run in the final three frames.

The two teams will complete the series with a doubleheader beginning at noon April 29. The series was originally supposed to begin April 29 and stretch through May 1, but all the games were moved up due to inclement weather in the weekend forecast.
