Box Score TAHLEQUAH, OK- The Northeastern State women's soccer team extended its win streak to five to open the 2016 season with a 2-1 victory over Central Oklahoma at Dr. Dan Deloach Field Friday evening.
The RiverHawks moved to 5-0 ,while the Bronchos fell to 3-1-1.
Goalkeeper
Jordan Woodruff shut down the UCO offense with a career high 13 saves and
Julia Mathis netted her seventh goal in the win.
Woodruff and the RiverHawks were tested early in the match as UCO launched six shots on goal in the first 10 minutes. The seventh shot off the foot UCO's Courtney Essary found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
After the sluggish start, Northeastern State's
Shelby Brewster tallied her first goal of the season with just 30 seconds remaining for a 1-1 tie at the break. UCO managed nine shots in the first half to NSU's four.
Midway through the final half, Mathis hit the game winner on a great individual effort to give the RiverHawks the 2-1 and the victory.
Northeastern State will closeout the homestane as it plays host to Missouri Southern on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
