WARRENSBURG, Mo. – For the second season in a row Northeastern State suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of #2 Central Missouri. The RiverHawks who won ten in a row to start the season lost to the Jennies 5-0.
Despite having a perfect record, Northeastern State had a tall task on the road with Central Missouri undefeated through 11 contests, and not allowing a goal this season. Â Heading into Sunday's match up the pair made up two of the six remaining undefeated teams.
The Jennies attacked on the RiverHawks quickly scoring in the 90th second of the match for the eventual game winner.
Northeastern State was limited to four shots on goal; Central Missouri (12-0-0, 5-0-0 MIAA) had 14 with
Meg Smith having nine saves to match a career high. Â Â
The RiverHawks (10-1-0, 3-1-0 MIAA) have not allowed five goals since Sep. 23, 2007 in a 5-0 loss to Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark. Â
In 2016, Northeastern State rolled through their first 11 contests with a win before falling 2-0 to the Jennies at DeLoache Field.
Sunday's contest concluded a four match road trip for NSU and they will play their next five matches at home starting with Northwest Missouri on Friday at 7 p.m.
