TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State's MIAA Tournament run came to a halt in the quarterfinal on Wednesday with a 1-0 shutout by Washburn.

The Ichabods scored the lone goal of the game in the 51st minute on a kick that was inside the box, and past NSU keeper
Meg Smith.

Northeastern State's offense wasn't able to move the ball down field on Washburn and only had three shots on-goal.Â
Paulina Chavez had NSU's best chance to even the contest in the 73-minute mark on a breakaway shot that was saved by WU's keeper.

Washburn (10-8-1) had a 12-to-9 advantage on the RiverHawks on shots with Smith stopping eight in front of the net. On corner kicks, Northeastern State held a 6-to-2 advantage.

The win over the RiverHawks advances Washburn to the semifinals to face Missouri Western on Friday on the campus of Central Missouri, the top remaining seed in the field.

In the meantime, Northeastern State (15-3) is in a holding pattern with a regional ranking at No. 5 and they will await NCAA Tournament selections which will be announced on Monday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
