A goal with 45-seconds left in regulation by
Jacob Weaver handed the RiverHawks the Central Region Crown. NSU won by a 2-1 score over MIAA rivals Fort Hays State on Thursday evening to advance to the national quarterfinals for the second time in program history.
Rockhurst captured its fifth NCAA Midwest Region crown in the second overtime period on Thursday over top-seed Ohio Valley, 1-0, to set up the matchup with the RiverHawks.
So close…but so far…
Regional hosting rotation is the reason why two teams located four hours apart from each other are playing over a 1,000 miles away in West Virginia. In 2017, the Midwest Region is the designated Super Regional host for the third round and quarterfinals; the RiverHawks were hosts in 2012 and 2014.
