TOPEKA, Kan. –
Cailyn Long carried the RiverHawks with a career afternoon but they would come short at Washburn falling 81-68 in NSU's season finale.
Long went off for 29 points, besting her previous mark by a pair on 9-for-17 shooting, and banking five treys on WU.Â
Mary Jane Buschmann added 12 points in her final game in a NSU uniform, and in two seasons she put up 528 points in 48 games played. Â
Alexis Hill scored ten with four assists for the RiverHawks;
Rylie Torrey added eight points and brought her season total to 443. Â Â
Northeastern State led for the first three minutes and kept the game inside single digits until the final 60 seconds where WU scored seven unanswered to take a 37-25 lead into halftime.  Â
The Washburn lead continued to widen in the second half and they were in front by 20 in third quarter. NSU did put on a late rally in the fourth period and got within eight (71-63) with 2:58 left following a Long layup.  However, the Ichabods followed with an 8-0 run to halt the RiverHawks' momentum.
From the field, Northeastern State shot 43.1-percent (22-51), and Washburn went 56.6-percent (30-53) on their side of the floor. The Ichabods out-rebounded NSU by ten with 31 boards,
Miranda Griffin led Northeastern State with seven rebounds. WU (17-11, 10-8 MIAA) had five in double figures with Jharian Bowen scoring a game high 21 points.
For the season the RiverHawks set a program record at the free-throw line going 76.6-percent (113-126) beating the 1991 record which was 75.7-percent.
Northeastern State concludes their season with a 6-21 record and 2-17 in MIAA play.
