Northeastern State drops home contest to UCM

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State's offensive woes continued on Saturday in a 78-58 loss to Central Missouri at the NSU Event Center.

The Riverhawks shot 30.6-percent from the field while connecting on 19-of-62 shots against the Mules.  Tyler Williams was an offensive spark off the bench for the RiverHawks team high 14 points, and he was NSU's lone player in double-figures.

In the rebounding battle, NSU trailed by one with 41 boards, and a season high 17 on the offensive glass.  Erick Broadnax led the RiverHawks with eight, Trent Cantrell, and Juvon Turner both added six.  The RiverHawks would cash in on their second chance points with 21, beating UCM by ten.  However, the scoring balanced out in points off of turnovers with the Mules picking up 18, compared to the RiverHawks' four; Northeastern State had one more turnover than UCM with 12.

Northeastern State tipped in the opening bucket and picked up a free-throw in the first minute of the contest, Central Missouri went back sunk a trey, and the RiverHawks trailed the rest of the way.  The closest NSU got would be after a Braxton Williams layup with 6:18 left in the first half to get within 28-26.

In the second half, NSU shot 26.5-percent (9-34) from the field as the gap continued to grow into double-figures with the Mules shooting above 50-percent.

Montre' Williams and Tanner Mouse both scored eight points, with Williams dishing out four assists.

The Mules finished the afternoon shooting 48.1-percent (26-54), while only connecting on 3-of-18 shots from the arc.  Four players hit double-figures for UCM with Spencer Reaves having 20 as the Mules go to 15-6 overall, and 9-4 in the MIAA.

Saturday's loss drops the RiverHawks to 3-18, 2-11 MIAA and they will be on the road for the next two games starting with a Thursday trip to Fort Hays State.
