NSU swept by Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. – Northeastern State saw their season come to an end on Monday with a sweep by Missouri Southern.

The Lions took the opener 6-0 and won 3-1 in the nightcap as the RiverHawks dropped their final six games of the regular season to miss the MIAA Tournament.

Northeastern State had their lone hit in the opener taken away in-between the contests after the play was reviewed by the on-site scorer and swapped for a MSSU throwing error to start the game.  The RiverHawks would have one other base runner in the contest.

Jennifer Wolf (10-10) tossed a complete game in her final start in a NSU uniform.

In the nightcap, the RiverHawks matched MSSU in the hit column with seven but they plated only one run in the sixth.  Kelsey Harmon had a RBI single after a Haley Acrey double to make the score 2-1 but MSSU extended their lead by a run in the bottom half of the inning on an error.

Taryn Gray (5-10) went 5 2/3 innings with Mollie Carter recording the final out on her final game.

Harmon had a perfect day at the plate going 3-for-3 and Acrey went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Northeastern State's season concludes with a 23-28 overall record and an 11-15 MIAA mark.
