The Matchup
This is one of the RiverHawks' longest series that started in 1922, the Bronchos have an 89-49 lead in the previous 138 meetings. Â Northeastern State has dropped four in a row to Central Oklahoma with its 92-73 victory on Dec. 19, 2015 as its lone win their last ten encounters.
The Coaches
Mark Downey was introduced as NSU's tenth men's basketball coach on April 11, 2017 and carries a 209-115 overall head coaching record, with four NCAA Division II Tournament Appearances, and has been named Coach of the Year six times. Â Downey comes to NSU after two seasons at Fort Wayne (NCAA DI) as the program's top assistant on the bench, and has helped the Mastodons to appearances in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) and the NIT, while going 44-23. Â Prior to Fort Wayne, Downey spent the 2014-15 season at Bowling Green where they went 20-12, and he helped direct them into the second round of the CIT.
Tom Hankins (45-31) is a 1989 graduate of Northeastern State and played for the men's basketball program from 1987-89, and is in his third season at Central Oklahoma. Â Hankins spent 18 years in the Division I ranks, serving 15 years at Oral Roberts and then spending three seasons as associate head coach at Southern Illinois-Carbondale before coming to UCO.
Last Time Out for NSU
Jamir Andrews continued to have the hot hand for the RiverHawks dropping a team season high seven three-pointers on Monday to run past William Woods 81-66 at the NSU Event Center. Â Andrews had 25 points against the Owls, and shot 9-for-12 from the field for NSU (5-12) who won its second game in a row. Â
Montre' Williams also was red-hot for the RiverHawks at the arc, landing 5-for-8 from downtown for 17 points. Â
Coryon Mason was a dual threat on floor with 13 points and a career high seven assists. Â
Josh Bougher was the RiverHawks fourth player in double-figures netting ten.
Last Time Out for UCO
The Bronchos have lost two in a row after dropping a low-scoring 49-47 contest at Washburn last Saturday. Â UCO shot a season low 33.3 percent from the field and were 4-for-18 at the arc against the Ichabods with Marquis Johnson having a team high 12 points.Â

Prior to their most resent four days off, the RiverHawks played a series of three games in a five day span, coming away with wins at Emporia State and William Woods.Â
Top Billing
Jamir Andrews took top weekly honors in the MIAA on Jan. 15 following a pair of games where he averaged 21.5 points and shot 54.5-percent (12-22) from the field. Â During NSU's 89-87 win at Emporia State (Jan. 13), Andrews paced the RiverHawks with 26-points, and dropped 8-of-13 shots against the Hornets.Â
Former Teammates now Rivals
NSU graduate student
Jamir Andrews and UCO senior Marqueese Grayson were teammates last season at UAlbany and will face each other on the court Tuesday. Â The pair played the first three games last season together before Andrews missed the remainder of the year due to an injury, and was granted a medial redshirt by the NCAA.
