RiverHawks go cold from 3-point range in loss at UCO

EDMOND – Northeastern State suffered an 87-60 setback to in-state rivals Central Oklahoma on Saturday at Hamilton Field House.  Freshman Coryon Mason paced the RiverHawks (5-13, 1-8 MIAA) in front of his home town family and friends with 14 points; the Oklahoma City native also hit double-digit scoring for the third contest in a row.

NSU needed to find their offense inside on Saturday after missing the first 11 attempts at the arc.  Despite the outside struggles, the RiverHawks only trailed by four (34-30) following a Tanner Mouse layup with just over a minute left to halftime.  The Bronchos capped off the period with back-to-back three-pointers to take a ten-point advantage into the locker room.

The RiverHawks trailed by double-digits the rest of the afternoon to the Bronchos (13-5, 6-3) who halted a two-game skid on Saturday. Jordan Hemphill paced UCO off the bench with a game high 20 points.

Both benches provided most of the offense on the floor with 35 of NSU's 60 points coming from their non-starters; the Bronchos had 63 points off the bench.

Lucas Antunez (11) and Mouse (10) were both in double-digit scoring for NSU.  Josh Bougher led the RiverHawks with six rebounds but trailed 42-to-27 off the glass to UCO.   Northeastern State from the arc finished the afternoon connecting on 3-of-18 shots.
