MARYVILLE, Mo. –
Valeria Pankratova had a goal and assist to help carry to RiverHawks on Sunday to a 2-1 road win at Northwest Missouri. The victory for Northeastern State snapped a four-match road skid to send them to 8-6-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the MIAA. Northwest Missouri (2-13, 1-8 MIAA) closed out their home slate with seven straight losses on their field.
Pankratova brought her season goal total to four as Northeastern State has now won seven in a row against the Bearcats.
After 25 minutes of play,
Mariah Nicolet gave the RiverHawks the advantage with on sixth goal of the season. The Bearcats countered 13 minutes later with a goal of their own to take a 1-1 tie into the intermission. Offensively, the RiverHawks had a slight 6-to-5 edge on Northwest Missouri; both teams were even with shots on-goal.
Out of the half, Pankratova scored on the RiverHawks' fifth shot at the 61st minute mark to break the tie. Northeastern State out-shot NWMSU 12-to-8 and landed five at the Northwest Missouri goal.
Paulina Chavez led NSU with four of its 18 shots on Sunday afternoon.
Northeastern State will return to action on Friday where they will face rivals Central Oklahoma in Edmond at 7 p.m.
