Cantrell's career night not enough at Nebraska-Kearney

KEARNEY, NEB. – A career afternoon from Trent Cantrell and Jamir Andrews' tenth 20-point game was not enough for the RiverHawks on Saturday falling 93-84 to Nebraska-Kearney.

Cantrell came off the bench for the RiverHawks (7-19, 3-14 MIAA) to score 18 points, his third straight game hitting double-digit scoring.  Andrews had 24 and sank a three-pointer with 3:42 left to get NSU within two (84-82) of the Lopers (13-13, 9-8 MIAA) who would shut the RiverHawks down offensively finishing the game on a 9-2 run.

Following Andrews' three pointer, NSU went 0-for-5 from the field, and missed their final four attempts from the arc.

The RiverHawks controlled the early stages of the game but a 13-7 run leading into halftime by Lopers tipped the scales on Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska-Kearney led the rest of the way and expanded their lead out to 11 points with 7:33 left in contest.   Northeastern State put themselves back in the game in the closing minutes on shooting-fouls and an 11-2 run cut the UNK lead down to a pair.  The RiverHawks during that run were 6-for-6 from the line.

NSU's scoring was limited to six players with Tanner Mouse having 19 points, Lucas Antunez added 13, and Montre' Williams scored nine.

Andrews, Josh Bougher, and Cantrell all led NSU with five rebounds but as a team, they trailed UNK 36-to-27.   The Lopers doubled the RiverHawks on the offensive glass with ten and second chance points were 17-to-6 over NSU.
