RiverHawks shutout at SWOSU, 6-0

WEATHERFORD – Northeastern State's bats were shutout by the Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon with Southwestern Oklahoma winning 6-0 in non-conference play.   The Bulldogs (2-2) jumped on the RiverHawks (1-3) early with five runs on eight hits in the opening two frames.

Reid Fehr had two NSU's six hits in their first in-state contest of the one-week old season.

After allowing Southwestern to score three runs in the first inning, the RiverHawks threatened in the following frame with two on and only one out.  However, they would hit into an odd fielder's choice double play to end the inning.

The only other offensive threat by the RiverHawks came down 6-0 in the eighth where they loaded the bases with one out.  NSU would end up leaving all three runners on with the next two batters striking out.

Southwestern Oklahoma's pitching staff struck out ten NSU batters while their offense collected 11 hits.

Brayden Boyd (0-1) started the mid-week contest and tossed the first two innings; Trevor Nance came in and pitched three clean relief innings.

Northeastern State will return to the field to face Rogers State on Friday in Claremore for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
