BOLIVAR, Mo. --
Dustin Berrong's career high 11 strike outs led the RiverHawks to a 4-2 victory in game one of a doubleheader against Southwest Baptist at Dodson Field hereÂ
Friday. The Bearcats took game two 5-0.
NSU moves to 17-12 and 8-8 in MIAA play. SBU goes to 11-20 and 5-14.
In the opener, Berrong (5-3) was almost perfect through seven innings, not allowing a hit until a two out single in the seventh inning.  The 11 strike outs are the most this season by a RiverHawks pitcher.  Berrong allowed one earned run in third inning, as he walked three and hit a batter.
Lane Rice came on in relief to pick up his first save.
Jaxon Phipps singled in the opening frame gave the RiverHawks a quick 1-0 advantage.  Connor Reynolds added to the lead in the second with his second home run of the year. Â
Alex Massie belted his second home run of the season in the third inning for a 3-1 RiverHawks lead after three innings.
Erick Espinosa singled home his 11
th RBI of the year in the ninth inning to cement a 4-2 win.
In game two,
Ben Strahm went six plus innings allowing just four hits while striking out seven as Southwest Baptist plated five runs over the final two innings to take the 5-0 win.
Northeastern State could only muster three hits in game, two of which came off the bat of
Michael Rhea.
The two teams will play the final game of the series on Saturday.  Game time is set forÂ
11:30 am.
