EMPORIA, KAN---- Jaxson Phipps's two run home run was the only offense the RiverHawks could muster as Emporia State won 5-2 to sweep the three game set at Glennen Field here Sunday.
Both Northeastern State and Emporia came into weekend fighting to stay in the hunt for a berth in the MIAA conference tournament. NSU now 25-21 on the year and 16-17 will need some help to gain a post season berth.
The RiverHawks bats were once again silenced by the Hornet pitching staff, NSU was held to six hits on the afternoon with Phipps's two run shot in the seventh inning accounted for both NSU runs. Phipps now leads the team with eight home runs on the year.

James Cowell took the loss lasting just 3.1 innings giving up four runs on eight hits.Â
Nolan Sturgeon and
Brayden Boyd also saw action allowing one and two hits over the final 4.2 innings.
Zack Henderson picked up two hits on the day, a double and single to now lead the team with a .344 average.
Oscar Resendez Jr. and
Erick Espinosa both had singles.
The RiverHawks will now look to finish strong as it hosts the Mules of Central Missouri in the final series of the 2018 season.
