KEARNEY, Neb. –
Tanner Mouse's career day fueled Northeastern State to a 70-61 win on Saturday afternoon at Nebraska-Kearney.
The RiverHawks snapped a four game skid and halted a six game MIAA road-losing streak against the Lopers who are the furthest trip from Tahlequah.
Mouse dropped 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting and matched his career high with eight rebounds against the Lopers.
Bradley George scored a career high 17 in his third start of the season and
Trent Cantrell added 12 for the RiverHawks.
Northeastern State led from the opening tip to the final horn and as many as 14 points on the Lopers.
Nebraska-Kearney would contest the game late and scored eight unanswered on the RiverHawks to get within three (64-61) with 1:05 remaining. With the clock winding down, George iced the game with 39 seconds remaining to halt the Lopers run with a layup to make it a 66-61 NSU lead.
The RiverHawks had their best shooting night since Nov. 30 against Central Christian of the Bible going 54.2-percent (26-48) on the floor. They were also 11-for-20 at the arc, which was also NSU's best outing since that Nov. 30 game.
Aaron Givens had seven rebounds and two blocks as NSU grabbed three more off the glass with 31 on Saturday.
The win will bring the RiverHawks up to 7-8 overall and 1-5 in MIAA play. Nebraska-Kearney falls to 5-10 and 0-6 in the MIAA.
