Opening Tip 
  • The RiverHawks are 3-0 for the first time since the 2013 season.  That same year they opened the year with four straight wins.  The last time NSU opened the year 5-0 was the 2012-13 season.
  • Through three games, NSU is second in the nation in scoring defense (51) and field-goal percentage defense (29.4).
  • With just 10.0 turnovers per game, NSU is second in the MIAA and 18th nationally.
  • Northeastern State has not trailed since the first minutes of their season opener.
  • The entire NSU suited lineup has scored in the last two games with its bench averaging 44.3 points a game.
  • Northeastern State has started the same five on the floor in the first three games of the season.
  • Caleb Smith has hit double-digit scoring in the last 17 games and is averaging a team-high 18.3 points in three contests this season.
  • Aaron Givens recorded his 500th career rebound against Bacone.
  • Head Coach Mark Downey is 13-9 in non-conference play with NSU winning six of their last seven games.
  • Against non-NCAA programs, the RiverHawks are 5-0 under Downey.
The Series with Oklahoma Christian...
  • This will be the first match-up in more than two decades that the RiverHawks and Eagles will square off.
  • Dan Hays, a Special Assistant to the Head Coach, was in charge of the Eagles the last time the team visited the Tahlequah.
  • First meeting with both teams being in the NCAA.
About the Eagles
  • The Eagles dropped their season opener to Central Okla. 63-44. OC shot just 2 of 20 from behind the arc and 28 percent from the field. Dedrian Parmer Jr. led the team with 18 points.
  • Oklahoma Christian had two exhibition match-ups this season, beating York (Neb.) 74-72 and losing North Texas 79-40. Against York, Marcus Blackwell scored the game-winning basket with 22.8 seconds left.
  • They have seven seniors on the team, six of whom played for the Eagles last year along with Dedriam Parmer Jr., who is a graduate transfer from USAO.
  • Kendre Talley, a 2014 OC graduate, is in his first season as the head coach. 
  • The Eagles were picked to finish 14th in the Lone Star Conference. 
The Series with Langston...
  • First meeting in years with the in-state program.
  • Langston led the series 24-20 up to the 1995 season.
  • NSU Hall of Fame Coach Ken Hayes earned his 600th career win against the Lions in a 1993 meeting.
  • NSU has scored at least 100 points in nine meetings with Langston. 
About the Lions
  • They have opened with four consecutive wins before falling to Texas College.  They will face Haskell Indian Nations Saturday night.
  • In their most recent game against Texas College, Ryan Scales led the way with 15 points and three rebounds. He was one of three Lions to score in double-digits. Alfonzo Anderson cleaned up the boards with 14 rebounds to lead in that category.
  • Averaging 76.2 points and shooting 47% from the field. They are shooting 28% from behind the arc. 
  • They are picked to finish ninth in the Sooner Athletic Conference. 
  • Philip Stitt is in his first season as head coach. He most recently spent six years as the head coach of the Marion Military Institute. 

Looking Back
  • NSU never trailed and led as many as 64 points in their last contest.
  • Payton Guiot, in his third game, led the RiverHawks with 18 points and had seven assists. 
  • All 11 players for NSU suited in the contest scored a point.
  • Bacone's 17 points in the first half match a Mark Downey era low for points allowed in the first half.
