Opening Tip 
  • Northeastern State is looking to close out the first month of the season with its sixth win.   Should NSU win on Tuesday, it will be the earliest they have gotten to six wins in the NCAA era.
  • Tuesday's contest is the location of the MIAA Basketball Championship.
  • The first time the RiverHawks have played a regular-season contest inside Municipal Auditorium.
  • Northeastern State is 1-3 as a MIAA member inside Municipal Auditorium.
  • The RiverHawks are receiving 13 votes in the latest NABC poll.  The last time they crossed into the top-25 in the poll was Nov. 26, 2013.    
  • NSU's defense is tops in the nation and has allowed only 53.5 points per game.
  • Teams are shooting 32.7-percent against the RiverHawks, which is lowest nationally.
  • In the last three games, Aaron Givens has averaged nine rebounds and nine points.
  • The NSU bench is averaging 33.3 points a game. 
  • Head Coach Mark Downey is 15-10 in non-conference play with NSU winning eight of their last ten games.
The Series with Rockhurst
  • First known meeting between the two programs.
  • First of two meetings with a program in the GLVC.  The RiverHawks will play Missouri S&T on Dec. 17.
About the Hawks
  • Enters Tuesday's tilt with two wins against MIAA teams.
  • Last time out they beat Emporia State in double-overtime.
  • Curtis Lewis is averaging 19.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game to lead the Hawks. Quinton Curry (16.0 ppg), Nick Volz (14.8 ppg) and Chris Hamil (11.8 ppg) are all averaging double-digits.
  • As a team, the Hawks are pulling down 37.8 rebounds per game. Curry leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game while, Volz has 8.0 rebounds per game.
  • The Hawks are shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from behind the arc.
  • Head Coach Drew Diener is in his fifth season as head coach. He has a 59-56 career record. One of his assistants is his dad, Dick Diener.
  • The Hawks were picked to finish sixth in the GLVC
Looking Back
  • Caleb Smith recorded his second 20 point game of the season with 20 points at Tarleton State.
  • NSU opened the game 0-13 at the three-point arc and trailed as many as 16 points, a season-high for the RiverHawks.
  • Northeastern State closed the gap with under ten to go left on the clock and got within three points of the Texans.
  • Aaron Givens matched a career-high with three blocks.
  • NSU would go stone cold in the final three minutes of the game with the RiverHawks making only one of their last 11 shots.
  • Tarleton ended the game on an 11-2 run to move to 3-3 on the season.
