RiverHawks to wrap up GAC play against Bison, Tigers

TAHLEQUAH – The RiverHawks Men's Soccer team will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of GAC contests. They will open the weekend on Thursday at 6 p.m. when they host Harding at DeLoache Field. Thursday's match will be senior night for the RiverHawks. They will wrap up the regular season Sunday afternoon at Ouachita Baptist in a match scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m.
 
First Touches
1. The RiverHawks are 9-7 on the season and 7-5 in conference action. They currently are fourth in the GAC standings, behind Harding, Rogers State and Fort Hays State. They are currently two points ahead of Newman for the final spot in the GAC Tournament.

2. Northeastern State is coming off a tough 1-0 double overtime loss at Rogers State on Friday night. 

3. Flynn Semmerling leads the RiverHawks with nine goals this season, including three match-winning goals. Aaron Ugbah is second with six goals, while Ben Watson has five on the season. Tom Singhgolden leads the team with four assists, while Ugbah has three and Watson has two. Justin Hinman has been in net for all 16 matches, making 51 saves with four shutouts.

4. This is the second time this season that the RiverHawks have faced both the Bison and the Tigers. In their first matchup with Harding, they lost 3-0, while they beat Ouachita Baptist 2-0 at DeLoache Field thanks to a multi-goal performance from Semmerling.

5. Head Coach Rob Czlonka is in his ninth season as head coach. He picked up his 100th career win on Sept. 26 against Southern Nazarene. The RiverHawks have known a lot of success under Czlonka, having qualified four times for the NCAA Tournament, including two trips to the NCAA Elite 8 (2015, 2017) and two trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 (2014, 2018). Czlonka entered the season with the fourth-best winning percentage among active NCAA Division II head coaches.

6. The Bison are 8-5-2 this season, with a record of 7-4-1 in conference matches. They are coming off a 1-0 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday. Christian Ramos leads the Bison with 16 goals on the season off 37 shots on goal. He also has four match-winning goals and one hat trick. Carlos Calderon has played most of the season in net, making 65 saves and recording four shutouts.

7. The Tigers will bring a record of 4-10-2 into the weekend, with a conference record of 4-7-1. They are coming off a narrow 1-0 win over Harding on Saturday and will face Rogers State Wednesday before hosting the RiverHawks. Abraham Lazo leads the Tigers with three goals and two assists. Jakob Cuellar, Nery Flores and Hector Duron all have two goals for the Tigers. Matt Day has been the primary goalkeeper for the Tigers, making 74 saves on the season in 14 matches played.
