Opening Tip 
  • Northeastern State will open its third season under head coach Fala Bullock this Friday.
  • The RiverHawks are returning seven players from last season, including Cenia Hayes, who led NSU in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game.
  • Also returning is Cielo McClain, who was second on the team in field goal percentage with 44% one year ago.
  • Tree Brooks returns to the floor for her fifth year after missing her senior season due to injury.  Brooks played the point for the NSU and made 13 starts as a junior and dished out 73 assists. 
  • Northeastern State was picked to finish 12th in the preseason coaches poll and 13th in the preseason media poll.
  • Coach Bullock is 1-1 all-time against Northwestern Okla., while the game against Mary will be her first time facing a team from the Northern Sun.
  • Following this weekend, the RiverHawks will play eight consecutive games inside the NSU Event Center until the next calendar year. 
The Series With Northwestern Oklahoma...
  • Lady Rangers hold a slim 18-17 series lead over NSU.
  • The RiverHawks have won five of the last six meetings against Northwestern Okla.
  • Last visit to Alva was in 2015, with NSU winning 61-43. 
About the Lady Rangers
  • Finished 12-18 in 2018-19, lost in the first round of the GAC Tournament to Southwestern Okla. 
  • Picked to finish 8th in the GAC this season
  • Return their two leading scorers from last season in Kalea King and Bailey Brown. Brown nearly averaged a double-double, finishing with 14.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.
  • The Rangers are returning eight players, four of which were starters.
  • They have just two seniors on the roster (King and Jakeria Otey) along with four juniors. 
The Series With UMary...
  • First meeting between the two programs.
  • NSU's first known meeting with a team out of the NSIC.
About the Marauders
  • Finished 17-9 in 2018-19, taking third in the NSIC North division. Lost in the first round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament 54-52 to Wayne State College.
  • Opened the 2019 season at the CCA Division II Tipoff, beating Montana State-Billings and losing to Simon Fraser (B.C.) and No. 17 West Texas A&M.
  • Returning three starters from last season, including reigning NSIC Player of the Year Cassie Askvig, who averaged 17.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg and 2.4 assists per game.  Also returning is Mary Williams, who finished third in the NSIC with 3.7 assists per game while also scoring 10.2 ppg.
Looking Back
  • The RiverHawks finished 6-22 one year ago, including a win at Azusa Pacific on Nov. 24, who would go on to play in the NCAA Elite Eight.
  • As a team, the RiverHawks shot 77% from the free-throw line on the season which, was second-best in the MIAA.  Morgan Lee led the team, shooting 94% from the free throw line, missing just one free-throw all season.
  • NSU will lose a presence under the post with Joi Bertrand, who broke a program record with blocks last season and led the MIAA.  Bertrand was on the league's All-Defensive Team.
  • Northeastern State's 126 point effort against Bacone was an MIAA high by 20 points.
