TAHLEQUAH, OK ---
Jaxon Phipps drove in four runs and belted his second home run of the year as the RiverHawks fell 16-6 to Southeastern Oklahoma State at Rousey Field here Tuesday.
Northeastern State falls to 2-12 on the year, SEOSU improves to 7-7.
Struggles at the plate continued as the RiverHawks only managed five hits on the day. Â Colten Burgess and Phipps each had two hits apiece and
Zack Henderson added the other.
After falling behind 5-1 after two innings of play, the RiverHawks roared back in the third inning. Â Connor West walked to open the frame, stole second and scored on the wild pitch.
Erick Espinosa and Burgess both walked. Â After a SEOSU pitching change, Phipps took a 3-1 pitch and deposited over the left field wall to tie the game at 5-5.
The Savage Storm answered the rally with two runs in the fourth inning, six in the fifth and three more in the seventh to capture a 16-6 victory.
NSU sent seven pitchers to the mound, issuing a season-high 14 walks on the day. Â
Garrett McClain was credited with the loss.
Northeastern State will get back into MIAA Conference play this weekend with a road trip to Warrensburg, MO to take on Central Missouri. Â Game one is scheduled for Friday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m.Â
