JOPLIN, Mo. – 
Gail Young struck out a career-high eight batters but the RiverHawks would fall 2-1 in a pitching battle to Cameron on Friday afternoon. 
Northeastern State finishes their trip to Joplin with a split and goes to 9-10 this season.
Young (6-5) only allowed four hits to the Aggies who tagged NSU for a run in the opening frame off a sacrifice fly.  
Cameron (13-8) added the eventual winning run on a homer with two outs in the second. 
Sierra Crick moved the RiverHawks within a run on a sac fly in the fourth.  
In the seventh, NSU would get the tying run to third with two outs but Cameron ended their day with a punch out.  
The RiverHawks were limited to five hits with 
Sierra Crick going 2-for-3 at the plate. 
Northeastern State will be off the rest of the weekend and return to action on March 9 with Missouri Western visiting to open MIAA play.
