TAHLEQUAH, Ok. --- Northeastern State pounded out 16 hits but could not overcome five errors in an 8-3 loss to Lindenwood in MIAA baseball action at Rousey field.

The loss drops the RiverHawks to 3-20 on the year and 2-9 on conference play.

Blake Freeman, Erick Espinosa, and Jaxon Phipps led the RiverHawks in the hits department with two apiece.

The Lions touched NSU starter Dustin Berrong for three runs in the opening frame for a 3-0 lead.

NSU battled back to tie the game, Wes O'Neill singled and scored on a Phipps single in the first inning cutting the deficit to 3-1 after one inning of play.

In the second inning, back to back hits from Brad Chronister and Freeman tied the game at 3-3.

NSU miscues began to take its toll in the third inning.  Lindenwood took advantage of two errors in the third inning and two more in the eight innings to claim the 8-3 victory.

Berrong took the loss for the RiverHawks, lasting five innings, struck out four and gave up three earned runs on the day.

The two teams will complete the three-game series on Sunday.  First pitch is set for 12:00 pm.
