EMPORIA, Kan. -- Two unearned runs came back to haunt the RiverHawks in a 2-0 loss on Thursday morning to Minnesota State.
The loss to the Mavericks (13-6) halted a six-game winning streak for NSU who managed one-hit in the opening game of the week.
Both of Minnesota State's runs came in the opening frame of the contest.
Kyla Ibarra had the RiverHawks' lone base hit in sixth.
Sydney Balderrama (5-6) only gave up five hits in the complete-game effort with a pair of strikeouts.
Northeastern State drops to 16-12 overall and wraps up the day with Sioux Falls at 11:30 a.m. today.
