Women's basketball hosts Emporia State Saturday

NSU is going for its first three game win streak in MIAA action since 2014

Opening tip
• If Northeastern State wins today it will be the first time it has won three straight MIAA games since 2013-14.
• The 2-0 MIAA start for NSU is the first since 2014 and the RiverHawks are on their first 2-0 start since 2015.
• The RiverHawks rank third in the conference in scoring average, second in field goal percentage. Emporia State is ninth in shooting percentage.
• Northeastern State has the best turnover margin in the conference (3.50).
• Today's game closes out the first of two season-long three game homestands for NSU.
• Both teams are converting their chances at the free throw line; ESU 85.7%, NSU 85.4%.
• Northeastern State has taken less emphasis on the three-point shot falling in 2020-21. It averages nine attempts per game, while across Bullock's first three seasons it averaged 18.2 attempts.
• The leading scorer for each team (Cenia Hayes and Jobe) are turning in 22.0 points per contest this season.

The series with Emporia State
• Saturday's meeting will the first November match-up between the two programs since 1992.
• Following a 75-67 home win in 2018, Emporia State has won five straight over the RiverHawks.
• Inside the Event Center, the RiverHawks are 2-5 against Emporia State.
• NSU's first NCAA meeting with the Lady Hornets came in the Sweet 16 in 2010.
• As head coach at NSU, Bullock is 1-5 against Emporia State.

About the Lady Hornets
• Was picked to finish first in the MIAA by coaches. It opened the season at fellow top pick Nebraska-Kearney falling 54-59.
• Returns five of eight top scorers from year prior.
• Redshirt-sophomore Tre'Zure Jobe leads the team in scoring averaging 22.0 points per game. She averaged 17.9 points in 2019-20.
• The Lady Hornets have four players who stand six foot or taller, rank third in the MIAA with 41 rebounds per game.
• Attempted 29 three-point field goals in opening game, however, only made six.
• The Lady Hornets do not get rattled on the road, though their home arena is not allowing fans, as they sport a 71 percent winning percentage away from home.

Looking back
• Beat Missouri Western for the first time since December 19, 2013.
• Made 26-of-28 free throws in win over Missouri Western.
• By scoring 82 points Northeastern State had its largest output against a Division II opponent since November 22, 2017 when it beat Southern Arkansas. Also was the most points in MIAA game since Febuary 7, 2013 when it beat Lindenwood at Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse.
Zaria Collins notched a new career-high with 22 points scored against Northwest Missouri to open the season. Turned in 19 the next game.
• Hayes surpassed 1,000 career points in win over Griffons.

Being the first doubleheader of the season the men's basketball team will battle Emporia State following the conclusion of the women's game.
